Hyderabad is highly cosmopolitan, a cauldron of a variety of cultures, not only because of its past but also because of the influx of people from all over the country to its institutions, research and educational, and to its various industries, including many high-profile technological firms.
 

The major landmark in Hyderabad is the Charminar a monument with four graceful minarets, built just two years after the founding of Hyderabad.

 
West of the Charminar is the famous Laad Bazaar where you will find just about everything. The old bazaar throbs with hectic trading of pearls, lac bangles and all other accessories fit for a bride.
 
The mosque lies 100 yards southwest of the Charminar. The mosque is said to be the largest mosques in the world- accomdating up to 10,000 worshippers.
The Salarjung museum is the largest one-man collection of antiques in the world.The museum is named after Yusuf Ali Khan (Salar Jung III), Prime Minister of the Nizam and titled Salar Jung Bahadur in 1853.
Right next to Hyderabad railway station is one of the best laid out gradens in the country with buildings of the State Legislature, State Archaeological Museum, Jubilee-Hall, Jawahar Bal Bahavan and Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam - an open air theatre.
Popularly called Birla Mandir this temple was constructed in 1976 with 2000 tonnes of Rajasthani white marble. The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara.
 
Birla Planetarium is India's most modern Planetrium and first of it's kind in the country.It is equipped with the most advanced technology from Japan and built on Naubatpahad.
 
The Hussain Sagar lake which links twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad was constructed in 1562 A.D. It has a great view of the Buddha Statue and is popular prominade and jogging track.
 
Hyderabad boasts of one of the largest stone Lord Buddha statue in the world which is placed in the middle of the Hussainsagar Lake.
 
One of the largest zoos in India, the Nehru Zoological Park is spread over 1.2 sq km of landscaped gardens.
 
The 16th century fortress is a must- see. Like many of the great forts in India, Golconda exudes a palpable sense of history.
 
Close to the Golconda fort's Balahisar Gate, tombs contain the remains of the seven Qutub Shahi rulers amidst the Ibrahim Bagh. The tombs are domed structures built on a square base surrounded by pointed arches.
 
The Tourist Complex of A.P Tourism at Shamirpet is located at the vicinity of the man-made Jawahar lake.
 
20 km away from the centre of Hyderabad, this beautiful lake was formed by constructing a dam on the river Musi in the year 1920, for the water supply to twin cities of Hyderabad & Secunderabad .
 
Geologists date the naturally sculpted grey granite rocks of the Deccan plateau at approx. 2500 million years. There is only one such Deccan shield area in Asia.
